Why Graphic Design Matters to Your Small Busines: Marketing Tip #8

Why Graphic Design Matters to Your Small Busines

Why does Graphic Design Matters to Your Small Busines? In Marketing Tip #7, we talked about how to advertise your business on a small budget. While there are tons of options for legitimate free and low-cost advertising, you don’t want to look cheap while trying to save money. Today, we will discuss a very important topic: Why Graphic Design Matters to Your Small Business.

When it comes to finding ways to affordably run our businesses, graphic design is often seen as a luxury. One that we don’t really need to worry about. We think it would be nice to have a better logo or a nicer-looking website. But we don’t really stop to understand the full impact that our designs have on our business.

Graphic Design Matters to Your Potential Customers

Professional-level graphic design matters to your small business because it matters to your potential customers. Studies have shown that first impressions of your business are 94% design-related (read the study). The truth is that building customer trust starts with the way your brand looks.

As consumers, we have to wonder just how much a company would care about providing a high-quality experience if right off the bat it doesn’t even look like they care about themselves. Poor graphic design tells customers that we are OK with cutting corners. Of course, as the business owner, we know that this is not true. We are proud of our business and our work. Unfortunately, most potential customers won’t reach out to get a second impression of us. They just judge and move on.

Graphic Design Gets You Noticed

One of the biggest reasons why graphic design matters to your small business is it gets you noticed. How do you get noticed? You have to stand out from the crowd. In our overstimulated world, bad design isn’t purposely ignored – we just don’t see it at all. Our eyes glaze right past information if it is not visually interesting and different.

It is no longer enough to merely have the best product or the best service. The world is too cluttered with options for people to pay much attention to things like that. Sure, they want the best – they will come back for the best – but how do they notice that you are the best if they don’t even notice you exist? Professional-level graphic design gets you noticed. That you can do what you do best: wowing your customers with your amazing products or services.

Graphic Design Tells Your Story

Graphic design is not just about making good impressions. It is also about effectively communicating your message. A well-laid-out website, flyer, poster, brochure, or even business card can cut through the clutter so that nothing gets in the way of what you are trying to say. It is your visual aid that points to what is really important, while also representing your high standard of excellence and excitement for what you do.

Design is not just about looking good. It is about increasing your sales through effective communication. People are busy and don’t have a lot of time to try and figure out how you can help them or what you are offering. Great design makes it easier for your potential customers to understand who you are, what you do, and, most importantly, how you can help them. Great design makes it easy for customers to say yes to you.
